Theater: ‘The Taming of the Shrew’
The Stanford Shakespeare Company presents the classic “The Taming of the Shrew” in commedia dell’arte style, with masks, acrobatics and clowning. The free show opens tomorrow, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. and runs through Feb. 25 in Toyon Hall on campus; reservations are required.

Joan Vernikos, a former director of life sciences at NASA, will give a free talk at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 22, on her book “Sitting Kills, Moving Heals: How Everyday Movement Will Prevent Pain, Illness, and Early Death — And Exercise Alone Won’t.” The event is at Books Inc., 301 Castro St., Mountain View.

Allen and Pamela Boronkay will host a Friday Night Dance at the Cubberley Community Center Pavilion tomorrow, Feb. 17, at 8 p.m. They will teach the cha cha for beginning and intermediate students and follow the lesson with general dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The American Red Cross will host a first aid class tomorrow, Feb. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m at American Red Cross Silicon Valley, 400 Mitchell Lane, Palo Alto. The course meets OSHA guidelines for first-aid programs and combines lectures and interactive video demonstrations.
